The author keep you guessing and building the main character and story line thus keeping you engrossed in the story... I can tell you this I certainly can't wait for the next book especially since I've read this one twice already!
Great read! It's always pleasure to find a new book. It's even better to take a chance on a new we book by a new author and get to watch their story telling develop as the stories does. But then to find out it's just the first instalment and theirs more to come. Oh yea. I'm going to watching closely for the next one that's for sure.
Drummer spins quite the yarn in his first published work. The character development is great, leading me to believe I actually know them. His plot grips the reader and leaves one eager to turn the page. Do not pick this up to read a few pages before bed! Next thing you know, it's 3 a.m. and the book is halfway finished.
Kept me on the edge of my seat all of the way through! Can't wait for the next one! Thank you for a great story full of symbolism and suspense! You kept me surprised at every page turn!
I am enjoying this book it is a action packed novel that keeps moving, not a slow dull read. I like the characters in the book, they are a good age range for different readers from young adult to adults. A big seller for me is that it isn't full of rough language or steamy plots that does not contribute to the plot, also The plots don't drag you on with boring fillers ) . I enjoyed every page of this book. From beginning to end! I can't wait for Book II and Book III. The Dark Matter Syndrome is by far one of the best books I've ever read and I am an avid reader. Lots of drama, action and suspense. I encourage everyone to purchase this book. I'm purchasing for my friends for Christmas. Hope the author is in the process of publishing Book II. Can't wait to see if some of the characters are brought back in book II. Easy to read, very fast paced, suspenseful---couldn't put it down! Reading it again!!!
Recommended to me by a friend - this book is thoroughly enjoyable, it has what I consider to be one of the most important aspects of a good story a seriously likable protagonist. I want to write this without spoilers so I will keep it brief and note that the negatives I had with the book were in a positive aspect in the sense that I really just wanted more.
Protagonists I found myself rooting for the two main character the book follows, Jonas and Katie (Xiang) but I felt most drawn to the inner conflict of Jonas. I really enjoy a complex character and while I thought Katie was a strong character in her own right, the rich history you discover about Jonas really brings that character to life to the point where you sympathize and feel for him. Katie is just a down-right badass.
Antagonists Dorian is epic. He's creepy, viscous, clever, and ruthless. I hesitate to say more for fear or ruining anything but the villains (both small and large) are interesting, creative, and creepy as all get-up.
Story line The primary arc of Katie's tutelage and protection against the wraiths under Jonas' tutelage is the primary push of the novel, though this shifts as the story progresses. I really enjoyed the roller coaster ride the story took me on, but I'd have liked to see or know more about the world-wide epidemic that occurs alongside the development of the main plot along with some more history about the wraiths themselves (though this may be a positive as it's left me wanting more!).
Overall Awesome. It's got a great X-Files or Men In Black feel to it in the secret societies combating in the shadows for the fate of our world aspect. A very fun novel to read. Excited about sequel!
